GEORGETOWN, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The high school football regular season is almost coming to a close, most teams have just two or three games left on their schedule.

Woodford County travels to Georgetown on Friday to take on Scott County in a highly anticipated game, which is our Fox 56 Game of the Week. Both the Cardinals and Yellow Jackets have found a lot of success this season with winning records.

    LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Scott County will have home-field advantage but regardless of the field this team plays on, they’ve shown throughout the season they can come out on top. The Cardinals have not lost a game since September 13th.

“We’ve played pretty good defense all year, but your defense can only hold up so long when you’re not playing very well offensively. We’ve cleaned up the turnovers, I think we turned it over ten or 11 times in the first four games, and we haven’t turned it over in the last four”, said Scott County head coach Jim Mckee.

Scott County will need to limit its turnovers again against a Woodford County team that only has one loss on the year.

Not only have the Yellow Jackets been dominant in Kentucky, but they also took a trip to California to play a solid Warren team that they beat on the road 32-8.

Head Coach Dennis Johnson credits the off-season for their success.

“We did a lot of things different, morning and afternoon weightlifting for the guys. 95% of our guys had the chance to get a full off-season weight program that we’ve never done before,” said Johnson.

The Cardinals will be in search of its fourth district win, while the Yellow Jackets will be looking for its second so this game will be critical for both teams.
