    Litter of puppies abandoned in Powell County, shelter looking for answers

    CLAY CITY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The Powell County Animal Shelter is looking for answers after six pitbull puppies were left on the steps of a church on Main Street in Clay City.

    “It was Wednesday evening close to dark on a very cold evening,” the Powell County Animal Shelter wrote on Facebook. These 6 babies are too young to not be able to nurse their momma.”

    The six puppies were placed in a storage container with “free puppies, bred with blue nose pit bull father is unknown breed” on the side.

    “Please contact us if you have any information leading to the owner of this abandonment case. The momma also needs to be spayed to prevent another unwanted litter. We can help with spay and neuter assistance,” the shelter wrote.

    The owner would have a “blue nose” pit bull who had recently been nursing.
