Man dies in hospital after shooting on East Fifth Street: Police investigating

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Lexington police are investigating a reported homicide after a shooting on East Fifth Street on Saturday night.

According to the Lexington Police Department (LPD), officers were dispatched to the 400 block of East Fifth Street in response to a shooting with a victim.

When police arrived at the scene, officers found 24-year-old Dion Jermaine Higgins suffering from a gunshot wound, authorities said.

Higgins was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The death was ruled as a homicide, and an investigation is currently ongoing.
