Radcliff man wounded by police after ‘active shooter situation’ at Baptist Health Hardin

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A man is in the hospital after being wounded by police during an active shooter situation in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In a press conference on Saturday, the Elizabethtown Police Department (EPD) said officers were dispatched shortly after 5 a.m. the same day in response to an active shooter at Baptist Health Hardin.

When police arrived, officers saw and fired at 39-year-old George Lee Jr. of Radcliff, who law enforcement said was the suspect of the shooting.

Lee Jr. was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital, where treatment is reportedly ongoing. On Sunday, Elizabethtown police wrote on Facebook that he is in critical, but stable condition.

“Shots were fired and officers arrived within just a couple minutes, and their swift actions in neutralizing the threats delimited the potential for additional victims,” the EPD said in a press conference.

Law enforcement said police had not encountered a shooter at Baptist Health Hardin before.

No one at the scene was injured aside from Lee Jr., authorities said.

An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
