The sad side of the city
MILWAUKEE — The Republican National Convention brought about 50,000 people to this city for a week in mid-July. Former Milwaukee Bucks Champ Reveals Blunt Message To Mike Budenholzer After Ugly Playoff Loss vs. Brooklyn Nets
Back in 2021, a lot of people were pleased and surprised to see Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks go far in the playoffs and win the championship. Turns out, former NBA guard Jeff Teague had a different mindset then, which led to a blunt message for then-head coach Mike Budenholzer.
I was kicked out of the Pfister at the RNC
MILWAUKEE — I’ve been thrown out of many classy places, but none finer than The Pfister Hotel. This “incident” occurred Thursday as I attempted to cover events at the Republican National Convention. To say I was thrown out may be an overstatement. I was asked to leave after I was practicing polite persistence. Yes, I was polite, but I was determined to attend a Wisconsin delegation event billed as “Wisconsin...
At the RNC Prayer Breakfast, Speakers Said the Quiet Part Out Loud
Fight disinformation: Sign up for the free Mother Jones Daily newsletter and follow the news that matters. On the final day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, I arrived at the Pfister Hotel ballroom 10 minutes before the God and Country Prayer Breakfast was supposed to start. I arrived a bit early just in case I encountered any trouble, since a few hours before the Faith and Freedom Coalition, the influential Christian political group that was hosting the breakfast, had denied my request for a press credential. While I didn’t have any trouble walking into the event, once I arrived, an organizer informed me that the hundreds of seats in the cavernous main breakfast room were already taken. She ushered me and a handful of others into an extremely air-conditioned overflow room, where, over chilly bacon and scrambled eggs, we watched a live stream of the proceedings on a big screen. My tablemate was an older gentleman who boasted that he had once hosted a Trump fundraiser at his “car club” and raised $2 million. We commiserated about being relegated to this outpost.
