Bullshit. We need to hold homeschoolers accountable just like we hold public schools accountable. Too much money spent on ski trips, food, entertainment and all the other stuff that the $ should not be spent on!!! Those are our tax dollars and it’s time to stop abusing them.

This is called checks and balances. The home school system for too long has been given plenty of money and without responsible reporting and oversight. There are legitimate and enriching home school situations. And they do an amazing job. But. MANY home school their kids because a) they don't like that public school requires attendance, commitment and personal responsibility, b) they're socially awkward and don't like dealing with people if they can avoid it, and c) they'd rather not have to get out of bed and get dressed. Taxpayers should not be footing the bill for these types of homeschoolers because the child will not get the education they have the right to get. As a public school teacher, I see homeschooled children finally come to public school when the teaching becomes too difficult. These children nearly always are so educationally deprived they have to start at a lower grade level than where they should be.
