    First man sentenced in Altoona drive-by death

    ALTOONA, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – One of the four suspects taken into custody after a drive-by shooting death of an Altoona man is now sentenced. 36-year-old Xavier Thompson is sentenced to 22 months in prison and 5 years extended supervision with 657 days of credit for time served. Thompson pleaded no contest to 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety as a party to a crime.

    Thompson’s sentence is connected to the death of 39-year-old Christopher Conner of Altoona, According to Eau Claire Police, Conner was found with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Bergen and Bellevue Avenues on September 17th, 2022.
