DENVER ( KDVR ) — On Friday, the U.S. Forest Service said the Alexander Mountain Fire that burned almost 10,000 acres was determined to be human-caused.

The Alexander Mountain Fire in Larimer County was the largest of the recent Colorado fires, sparking in late July and burning 9,668 acres. While it neared full containment after over a week, it destroyed or damaged 52 structures and caused hundreds of evacuations.

Report: 52 structures destroyed or damaged in Alexander Mountain Fire

Wildland fire investigators and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office are following leads, and investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Forest Service Law Enforcement Tip Line at 303-275-5266.

Photos, videos, and typed statements can also be uploaded online.

The U.S. Forest Service said investigators are interested in the following information:

    • Anyone who was in the area immediately east and below the peak of Alexander Mountain
    • Anyone with photos of the fire between 10:30-11:15 a.m. on July 29
    • Information from anyone who spent time in the Alexander Mountain area

This is one of many human-caused fires that sparked in the past few weeks. The Lake Shore Fire was deemed accidental and human-caused, while the Quarry Fire is under an arson investigation. The Stone Canyon Fire is also under investigation as investigators believe it was human-caused.
