Woman reports she was groped while walking on path north of McKay Lake

DENVER (KDVR) — A woman reported she was groped while walking around McKay Lake on Monday morning.

The woman told Westminster police that the incident happened just before 10 a.m. She told police that she was walking on the footpath north of McKay Lake in Westminster when a man approached her, “grabbed her backside and took off.”

She immediately called 911 and walked to the McKay Lake parking lot, which does not have security cameras, according to the Westminster Police Department. A drone was activated to look for the suspect, to no avail.

The woman described the suspect as a white male in his 30s with a buzzcut. He was reportedly wearing a gray zip jacket with a possible red shirt underneath, black pants and sunglasses.

Westminster police victim advocates also responded to the scene to support the victim. The police agency also reached out to surrounding agencies for reports of similar incidents.

“We understand this is concerning and we will be doing extra patrols in the area,” Westminster police posted to Facebook.

The agency asked the community to stay diligent and report any suspicious activity to the Westminster Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch at 303-658-4360.
