Aurora plans to address neighbors’ concerns about issues at apartment complex

AURORA, Colo. ( KDVR ) — The city of Aurora is planning to address issues at another apartment complex that neighbors are concerned about after a building on Nome Street closed to abate the property.

Several neighbors of The Edge at Lowry, near Dallas Street and 12th Avenue, reportedly operated by CBZ Management, reached out to FOX31 with concerns about trash and alleged criminal activity.

“As of maybe three weeks ago, the trash just stopped getting picked up altogether,” said a neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation. “We don’t want to see the problem get worse. We actually have seen an increase in gunfights in our block.”

This comes after Aurora closed the Fitzsimons Apartment complex on Tuesday on Nome Street and Colfax Avenue, also operated by CBZ Management, saying it was unsafe and unfit for people to live in. Now, the neighbors of The Edge at Lowry are hoping changes will be made there too.

“It’s frustrating because I see that our community of homeowners that live around there are hardworking people who maybe don’t make a lot of money, but what resources they have, they’re trying to maintain their homes, they’re trying to keep their gardens nice. We all have an investment in this community, and we want to see it prosper, not go backward,” the neighbor said.

FOX31 reached out to CBZ Management for a comment on The Edge at Lowry but did not hear back as of Sunday night.

A spokesperson for the city of Aurora said they are “going to address the trash and landscaping issues at those properties and do some degree of cleanup on Aug. 22.”
