This Colorado region is considered one of the best for wine in the US

DENVER ( KDVR ) — While northern California is known as “wine country,” another favorite wine region is only a couple hours from Denver.

USA Today rated the best wine regions in 2024 , and among the vineyards of California and the grapes of Washington, Grand Valley in western Colorado also made the list.

Ranking at No. 10, the area in western Colorado is filled with over a quarter of the state’s wineries, according to the list. It included that the terrain doesn’t make it easy on the grapes either.

Despite the growing conditions, the Grand Valley region is home to many towns known for their wine and fresh produce, like Palisade. The small town hosts over 30 wineries, many of which are along the fruit and wine byway, according to Visit Palisade .

3. Paso Robles – California
4. Loudoun – Virginia
5. Suisun Valley – California
6. Santa Barbara County – California
7. Finger Lakes – New York

9. Sonoma Valley – California
10. Grand Valley – Colorado

According to the Colorado Department of Agriculture , the vineyards in Grand Valley produce more than 75% of the grapes for the state’s 165 wine producers.
