    More than a dozen Boulder storage units damaged in fire

    BOULDER, Colo. ( KDVR ) — An early morning fire partially destroyed a self-storage facility in Boulder on Monday.

    The fire broke out at the Extra Space Storage in the 5800 block of Arapahoe Road at around 2 a.m.

    Boulder Fire Rescue said they contained the fire to one area of the facility and were attempting to extinguish hot spots. Heavy equipment was being used to dismantle some of the rubble and locate spots still burning.

    At around 5:33 a.m., Boulder Fire said most of the fire was knocked down. Between 12-14 storage units were affected and suffered heavy smoke and fire damage.

    A total of 45 personnel were on scene, and no one was injured.

    Boulder Fire said Arapahoe Avenue would be shut down for several hours during the morning commute. The road was reopened just before 7 a.m.

    The cause of the fire is under investigation.
