DENVER ( KDVR ) — A Denver mansion hit the market with over 100 years of history and half a million dollars’ worth of antiques.
The 1911 house, located along North Washington Street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, was vacant for some time until one real estate broker, Douglas D. Kerbs, fixed it up and restored many of its original components.
According to the listing on Sotheby’s International Realty , the house hosted many well-known guests like Eleanor Roosevelt, who gifted exotic plants to put in the garden every time she stayed.
After Kerbs renovated the house in the early 2000s, authentic elements remained, like a billiards room and a butler’s pantry with a buzzer in the middle of the dining room that was used to buzz the pantry. Meanwhile, other rooms were updated, like the telephone room which was turned into a silver storage room.
After years of renovations and decorations, including many purchased antique pieces, it was put on the market for $4.399 million.
Here’s a look inside:
The home includes the furnishings and antique pieces, which the listing said were worth half a million dollars. Kerbs purchased furnishings from around the world, including some from Sarkisian’s or antique auctions.
According to the realty, some of these antiques include the pool table, originally from the 1920s or 30s and purchased from an estate sale, and a small table in the upstairs hallway, which was a Louis XV and created around 1650.
Despite the house’s rich history, there are still modern elements. The listing said the house has snow melt on walkways, driveway and the pool deck.
The six-bed, six-bath house has three floors, including a top floor that once quartered staff. The top floor is now a private guest wing with two bedrooms, a living space and an office.
