DENVER ( KDVR ) — A gas station chain is offering Coloradans 25 cents off per gallon ahead of what’s expected to be a busy Labor Day weekend.

Labor Day is often considered the final weekend of summer, and millions are expected to hit the road to take advantage of the long weekend. On Wednesday, QuikTrip said it’s offering Colorado customers 25 cents off per gallon of gas.

Gas prices will be top of mind for motorists, and according to AAA, drivers are getting a break this year. The nationwide average was recently $3.44 per gallon , compared to $3.86 a year ago, said AAA.

Packed to the brim: DIA anticipates record-breaking Labor Day weekend

With the national average price down and QuikTrip’s new offer, motorists will be able to save a few bucks more than they did last year.

How to save 25 cents at QuikTrip

The 25 cents off deal at QuikTrip won’t be added manually. Customers will have to download the gas station’s app.

In order to save on their next trip, customers are asked to download and use the QT Pay feature in the QuikTrip app. Once enrolled, the gas station said customers will save 25 cents a gallon and 5% on in-store purchases through Nov. 30. After that date, Coloradans will continue to save 5 cents per gallon.

QuikTrip said this will apply to all locations in Colorado.

When is the best time to hit the road?

If you plan to start your drive on the Thursday or Friday before Labor Day, you will be sharing the road with commuters. You might want to leave before morning rush hour or even in the evening to avoid jams.

DIA allows more time to reserve space in security lines at no charge

According to transportation data provider INRIX, the worst time to hit the road will be on Thursday between 1-7:30 p.m. and on Friday between 2-6 p.m.

For your return trip, Monday is expected to be busy between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
