DENVER ( KDVR ) — A project that has been years in the making was officially unveiled — three blocks of the revitalized 16th Street Mall opened Thursday morning.

Three blocks of the mall are now open from Larimer to Wazee Street. The block between Larimer and Lawrence Street opened earlier this year in June.

The 16th Street Revitalization Project broke ground in April 2022. The main goal was to improve safety and mobility infrastructure while creating a draw to visitors and local businesses.

The business owner of Little Finch said that the last two years were rough, but her staff feels safer going to and from work with the new improvements.

A resident of the area said she noticed the cleanliness right away but said “the jury is still out” when it comes to safety.

There is still ongoing construction from Market Street to Broadway on 16th Street, and more blocks will continue to open through 2025.
