DENVER ( KDVR ) — A man has died weeks after a shooting at an Aurora complex that has been described by residents as having a myriad of problems.

Residents at The Edge at Lowry apartment complex near Dallas Street and East 12th Avenue said they’ve been plagued by problems for months, including a large pileup of trash, a deadly shootout and attempted break-ins.

On Aug. 18 at around 11:30 p.m., Aurora Police Department officers responded to a shooting at the apartment complex. One man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“Warfare. Warfare. It was different caliber of guns, different kinds of guns. You don’t expect to hear that when you are laying your head down at night,” resident Cindy Romero said of the shooting.

Residents at Aurora apartments say deplorable conditions the issue, not gangs

On Tuesday, the Aurora Police Department provided an update on the shooting and said the man who was shot died from his injuries while in the hospital. The Major Crime Homicide Unit is now investigating the case.

Police said the victim was identified on Aug. 27 as 25-year-old Oswaldo Jose Dabion Araujo.

At this time the investigation is ongoing, and Aurora police said officers have not made any arrests. Anyone who has information on the shooting is asked to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward.
