    Small wildfire burns northwest of Silverthorne

    Update: The fire was fully contained late Friday and crews continued mopping up on Saturday. The cause of the fire was determined by the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit to be lightning. The original article continues below.

    DENVER (KDVR) — A wildfire was burning Friday afternoon in Summit County, north of Silverthorne and west of Colorado Highway 9.

    The fire had burned less than an acre as of 4:22 p.m., according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

    “No evacuations are being considered right now,” the sheriff’s office said at the time .

    The fire was about 1.5 miles west of Highway 9 on White River National Forest lands. Summit Fire and EMS also were responding.

    The sheriff’s office said any further updates would come from Summit Fire and EMS, the U.S. Forest Service or the Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District.

    Dry conditions and summer heat continued for Colorado’s weather on Friday. While the seven-day outlook as of Friday looked mostly dry across the state, a few isolated showers will be possible on Saturday over the mountains.
