DENVER (KDVR) — The family of a man killed in a motorcycle crash hope what happened to him won’t ever happen again. Devan Allison leaves behind a wife and a 2-year-old daughter. His loved ones said they don’t want other families dealing with the pain they are now coping with.

Marion is mourning the sudden loss of her brother Devan who died in a tragic accident.

“Any person he met they instantly gravitated. He had a great personality,” said Marion Allison. “He was my best friend.”

“If I would have talked to him just 30 minutes longer he wouldn’t have got hit you know. Like it’s just surreal,” said Marion.

On Aug. 27 around 1:40 a.m. family members said Devan was riding his Harley-Davidson in downtown Denver in the area of North Broadway and West Speer Boulevard. Police said Devan was traveling southbound approaching the intersection when he failed to stop at a red light and struck a Toyota.

“He was hit on impact and was killed at the scene,” said Marion.

The 33-year-old’s family told FOX31 that Devan loved art and music. They said his family was his priority and passion and his life revolved around motorcycles. He had been riding them for as long as they could remember.

“I want to say his 8th birthday he got his first motorbike and he has always been enthralled with them,” said Marion.

Marion said her brother was normally responsible and careful on his motorcycle, but on that dreadful day, he wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time. It’s something she believes could have saved his life.

“I believe what killed him was blunt force trauma to his head. So always wear a helmet because it could save your life,” said Marion. “I know it may not look cool but it could save your life. Be careful for sure. You never know. It could be your fault, it could be someone else’s fault on the road. It’s all in a matter of seconds, really.”

Police said the driver of the Toyota will not face any charges in this case.

Meanwhile, the family has a GoFundMe to help raise money for Devan’s funeral planned on Sept. 15. They are expecting a large turnout from the motorcycle community.
