DENVER ( KDVR ) — A Mountain View council member is accused of shooting a teenager in the face on Tuesday while the boy was reportedly looking for a spot to take homecoming pictures. The affidavit for Brent Metz, 38, was released on Thursday, which included a statement from the witness who watched his 17-year-old friend get shot in the head .

According to the affidavit, on Tuesday, the two boys were looking for a spot to take homecoming pictures in Ken Caryl Valley when they stumbled upon a house with a dock and a view of a lake.

The pair, who had known each other since childhood, parked on the side of the road, walked up the long driveway on Pleasant Park Road in Jefferson County and knocked on the door, but no one answered. According to a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office social media post on Wednesday, the boys allegedly “jumped a fence” at the property.

Around this time, the homeowner reported two trespassers on her property, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said. The homeowner also called her boyfriend about the trespassers.

The boys then walked back to the car, which was adjacent to the driveway, and decided to leave a note. One of them pulled out a school notebook when a truck pulled up and blocked their car, according to the affidavit.

The car door opened, and then a bullet went through the windshield and hit the boy in the head.

According to the affidavit, the driver said “Oh (expletive) my gun went off” then took off his shirt and tried to stop the bleeding. The boy told the officer who first arrived on the scene that his friend knew he was bleeding and screamed “I was going to die” when the driver got out of his vehicle.

The driver stayed on the scene until a deputy arrived, originally responding to a trespassing call.

Soon after, Metz was arrested and faces charges of assault in the first degree, two charges of menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm and two charges of reckless endangerment

The victim sustained serious injuries and as of Wednesday is still in the hospital.
