Casa Bonita runs out of reservations within hours after thousands queue up online

DENVER (KDVR) – Casa Bonita opened up reservations to the public for the first time on Monday, with all tables in October and November being booked within just a few hours.

“Thank you for your patience, but unfortunately all current reservations have been taken,” the website read after the queue closed.

The restaurant had two sign-up periods on Monday , with priority reservations opening at 9 a.m. for “founders,” or people who signed up for the email list before the restaurant reopened.

There were only a limited number of these priority reservations available, and people showed up to the virtual queue in droves before they sold out. FOX31 observed upwards of 50,000 people in the queue at one point before it closed.

Reservations then opened to the general public at 3 p.m., with over 30,000 people observed in the virtual queue at one point before it closed around two hours later.

This was the first time that members of the general public have been able to reserve tables at the Denver staple since the restaurant closed in 2020. The previous owners filed for bankruptcy in 2021, with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone purchasing it in August of that year.

It reopened in May 2023 after undergoing renovations, but reservations were only available through a lottery system until Monday.

Parker and Stone teased new additions to the restaurant starting Oct. 1, including “enhancing” the food menu, but said the experience will remain mostly the same.

According to Casa Bonita’s website, it is always adding new inventory, so people who were unable to secure a spot on Monday are encouraged to check back regularly.
