School in Eagle County evacuates while police investigate bomb threat

DENVER ( KDVR ) — The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported bomb threat at Battle Mountain High School on Wednesday.

Police said students at Battle Mountain High School were evacuated to a safe location during the investigation. Family reunification will take place at Berry Creek Middle School.

The police are working with the school district and the special operations unit is on scene investigating. Police also requested assistance from federal and state agencies as a precautionary measure.

After initial investigations of the building’s exterior, police said there were no immediate threats. However, they are continuing to investigate inside and outside the building.

This is one of many reported threats that have occurred in September in Colorado.

On Tuesday, Englewood police cleared an anonymous tip about an “explosive device” at the campus that houses Englewood High School, Englewood Middle School and the Englewood Leadership Academy.

Earlier in the month, several schools across Colorado either increased police presence or canceled classes altogether after reports of several social media threats .
