1 shot, killed near Aurora liquor store — police investigating

DENVER (KDVR) — Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Friday night in Aurora.

The Aurora Police Department told FOX31 that police responded to the area of East Colfax Avenue and Helena Street around 8:45 p.m. after a report of a shooting at a business.

Police said it happened near a liquor store, but did not specify whether it happened inside or outside of the business.

One man had multiple gunshot wounds. Police said he was taken to a hospital, where died shortly after arrival.

According to police, preliminary investigation suggests that an argument and fight happened before the shooting.

So far, there is no suspect information and no one has been arrested in relation to the shooting.

“The scene is close to Whispering Pines apartments. There is no information at this time about any possible connections to the migrant community or gang activity,” the Aurora Police Department said.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information was immediately available.
