AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — An Aurora man’s truck was stolen last month. Now, it’s been caught on camera, used to commit another crime.

Chad Churchill’s Ring camera caught thieves making off with his truck in Aurora on August 14. Not long afterward, he was surprised to get a call from a complete stranger in Denver, who saw his truck being used in another car break-in.

The security video from Churchill’s home shows a red truck drive alongside his own, which was parked on the road with a camper attached.

When Churchill next went outside, his truck was gone.

Days later, Churchill got a call from a stranger in Denver who said their car had been broken into.

How did they know to call him? “The people that were breaking into it dropped one of my paycheck stubs,” Churchill said.

It likely fell out of the truck when the suspects got out. Churchill was sent another security video of this second incident and he recognized it immediately.

“It’s clearly my truck because as you can see there’s no fender on the one side,” he said.

The footage shows Churchill’s truck pulling through the parking lot slowly, eventually backing into frame again and stopping next to an orange Corvette, which the owners say was broken into.

Churchill was surprised to see it again.

“We were thinking it was gone for good,” he said, “Like, on its way to Mexico or something.”

And hopes it’ll make its way back to him and the culprits will be stopped from stealing another vehicle.

“It’s not their first rodeo, that’s for sure,” says Churchill.

Churchill described his truck as a green dually, which means it has dual rear wheels on each side. He says the passenger-side fender is missing and a front headlight is also broken.

If you see it, he asks that you call Denver Police.

My truck has been stolen twice in Aurora in the last year! The police wouldn’t come out either time. I’m glad this isn’t really going on in Aurora.
