DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Broncos announced Wednesday that inside linebacker and captain Alex Singleton will be out for the rest of the season due to an injury.

Previously playing for Montana State University, Singleton has been in the NFL for six years and signed with the Broncos in 2022.

Could a change in approach help the Broncos and Bo Nix?

He has since set records with his tackling skills. In 2022, he became the only NFL player to have multiple games with 20 or more tackles during a single season since at least 1994, according to his page on the Broncos website . He also led the team in tackles for the past two seasons.

Earlier this month, the Broncos announced that Singleton was chosen by the players as a captain for the 2024 season.

The Denver Broncos reports that Singleton averaged more than 10 tackles per outing through three games this season.

Head coach Sean Payton said the injury happened during a play in the first quarter of the Week 3 game against the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Payton said Singleton played most of the game with the torn ACL before he reported feeling soreness.

“They looked at it, we looked at it some more and then sure enough. He’ll be scheduled for surgery probably about two weeks from now,” Payton said .

Singleton will be placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season. Along with the announcement, the Broncos said running back Tyler Badie will be promoted to the active roster.
