Former cooking show contestants open restaurant in Union Station neighborhood

DENVER ( KDVR ) — A new restaurant in the Union Station neighborhood opens on Friday with two well-known chefs behind the menu.

The two-story space on 17th Street was once known as St. Elmo’s Hotel in 1896. Now, it’s opening as Church and Union , a modern-American eatery that’s expanded from Charleston to Charlotte and Denver.

The two chefs, Jamie Lynch and Adam Hodgson, are recognizable within the cooking community.

Lynch competed on seasons 14 and 17 of “Top Chef” and “Top Chef All-Stars,” where he’s known for his controversial decision to give up immunity for the first and only time in the show’s history, according to Church and Union. Hodgson also spent some time on the television screen after appearing on season 23 of “Beat Bobby Flay.”

Both chefs decided on a menu filled with steaks, seafood, small plates and sides.

Here’s a look at what will be on the table:

The restaurant highlights a few dishes, including “Chef Jamie’s lamb burger,” which comes with red onion marmalade, gorgonzola fondue, arugula and a secret sauce. The restaurant also recommends their handmade braided ravioli, which is freshly made with garlic tomato sauce, capers and parmesan.
