Aurora police arrest documented Tren de Aragua member

DENVER (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department said Thursday that one of the 10 Tren de Aragua members it had previously identified was arrested on outstanding warrants out of two Colorado district courts.

Roiberth Daniel Mora-Marquez, 23, was arrested Wednesday night, according to police. The arrest was done by the Aurora Police Department Gang Intervention Unit.

According to police, Mora-Marquez has been charged in Adams District Court with aggravated first-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping, third-degree assault, and felony menacing. These charges are from an April 4 incident about unpaid rent money in the 1600 block of Lima Street.

Aurora police said they arrested him on April 17 in connection to the investigation and he posted a $20,000 bond. Police said a warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to show up for court for that case.

Mora-Marquez also had an active warrant out of Arapahoe District Court on charges of felony menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, harassment and reckless endangerment. The charges were from a nonfatal shooting on June 28 in the 400 block of Nile Street.

The arrest comes after the Aurora Police Department held a press conference regarding a viral video of men entering an Aurora apartment, saying that the individuals seen in the video are involved with any gang, specifically the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. Many of the violent crime trends in Aurora have been falsely attributed to migrants , and the Aurora police said last week that it would not “over police a population based upon their race or ethnicity,” and instead rely on statistics and data of individuals causing the issues.

Police said Mora-Marquez was in custody at the Aurora Detention Center on a no-bond hold as of Thursday afternoon. Anyone with information was urged to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
