    Crews battle grass fire in Park County throughout weekend

    DENVER (KDVR) — Crews from multiple agencies responded to a grass fire in Park County on Saturday afternoon.

    The fire was first reported at 12:47 p.m., according to the Pike and San Isabel National Forests fire information page .

    Colorado aspen trees depend on fire to thrive

    The fire was burning about five miles southeast of Jefferson in South Park. The U.S. Forest Service reported the fire was about 95 acres before it was contained. As of 1:15 p.m. Sunday, crews were continuing to mop-up the fire line, allowing the interior of the fire to burn itself out.

    No structures were threatened and there were no evacuations or road closures. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
