DENVER (KDVR) – Review and ranking website Niche recently released its list of the top school districts in each state for 2025 , including Colorado.

There are 179 school districts in the Centennial State, though Niche only graded and ranked 164.

Each district received a letter grade, with A+ being the top score.

These are the 15 best schools in Colorado for 2025: Niche report

This grade is based on several factors including academics, teachers, diversity and college prep.

Only one of the districts, Cheyenne Mountain School District No. 12 in Colorado Springs, received an A+, with the rest of the top 15 list receiving an A or A-.

While Cheyenne Mountain School District No. 12 was graded the best district in the state, the highest-ranked school from it, Cheyenne Mountain High School, was just short of making the top 15 list, coming in at No. 16.

The largest school district in the state, Denver Public Schools, did not make it anywhere near the top 15 list. According to Niche, it gets a “B” grade overall, which ranked it as the No. 43 best school district in the state.

How did Colorado measure up nationwide?

Colorado’s school districts did not make the top 50 list of best school districts nationwide. However, with around 11,000 school districts in the country, this may not be that surprising.

The No. 1 school district in Colorado, Cheyenne Mountain School District No. 12, ultimately came in at No. 180 of best school districts in America.

The No. 2, district, Boulder Valley School District, meanwhile came in at No. 362 nationwide.
