DENVER ( KDVR ) — Former President Donald Trump said he would visit Aurora in the next two weeks during a rally in New York, on Sept. 18. However, Wednesday marks two weeks since Trump made the statement, and there have been no signs of Trump in the state.

Aurora gained a national spotlight after a viral video was released showing a group of men carrying firearms and gathering around an apartment door at The Edge at Lowry apartments before entering. The video was taken just before a shootout occurred in the parking lot of the complex that left one person dead.

Since then, Trump has addressed Aurora specifically during his political campaign. During the televised presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump addressed cities like Springfield, Illinois and Aurora.

“You look at Aurora, in Colorado,” Trump said at the debate in response to a question about the country’s economic health. “They are taking over the towns. They are taking over buildings. They are going in violently.”

In mid-September, Trump also said that if he wins the presidency again, he would order the largest deportation in U.S. history , starting in Aurora. Just over a week later, on Sept. 18, Trump brought up Aurora again at his rally in Uniondale, New York.

“I’m going to go there in the next two weeks. I’m going to Springfield and I’m going to Aurora,” Trump told rally-goers. “You may never see me again, but that’s OK. Got to do what I got to do.”

As of Oct. 2, exactly two weeks since Trump made the statement, there has been no word on the former president visiting the city.

After the debate, the city told FOX31 they hadn’t been notified of any formalized plans for a visit from the former president. Meanwhile, Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman said he hasn’t heard from Trump , but he welcomes him to come to the city and check out what’s happening on the ground for himself.

Coffman also said the narrative on Aurora is inaccurate. After videos of men with guns at an apartment complex went viral , Coffman and the police department said these are “isolated incidents” at two buildings in a small corner of the city.
