Denver Broncos fans share tailgate favorites

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Thousands of fans enjoyed tailgating across the metro area as the Denver Broncos beat the Las Vegas Raiders in the second home game of the season.

Members of the Wild Bill tailgating club brought their famous orange and blue bus, featuring the names of Broncos greats outside and fan memorabilia inside.

“It’s like a home away from home to watch my Broncos,” said Ann Benning.

The Chillin’ and Grillin’ tent offered fans everything from sizzling fresh jalapeños to asada tacos and chicken quesadillas. Other fan favorites include the “Dirty Dog” which is a hot dog topped with steak and cheese.

Other fans geared up for the game at the Thirsty Lion Gastro Pub at Union Station . General Manager Randy Strothers told FOX31 that Broncos fans bring a special presence to the downtown area.

“You just feel the energy everybody’s excited to get to the game and have fun,” Strothers told FOX31.

Football season brings a revenue boost to businesses across the downtown area. Many have special menus that cater to the increased crowds before and after the game.

“We have 36 beers on tap right now as well as our cocktails, mimosas (and) Bloody Marys are most popular for Bronco games,” said Strothers.

Loyal Broncos fans told FOX31 their traditional choices on gameday include nachos, chicken fingers and the Gastropub Burger infused with gorgonzola and topped with grilled sweet onion, maple bacon, white cheddar and horseradish cream.

Colorado’s warm fall weather provides perfect conditions for those who tailgate at home. For many fans at home, grilled burgers and hot dogs, salads and fresh fruit top the menu.
