    Human remains found by hiker in Summit County

    DENVER (KDVR) — The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a hiker found human remains on Friday, Oct. 4 .

    According to the sheriff’s office, the hiker reported finding the decomposed male body near Officer’s Gulch. Preliminary investigation did not show any elevated risk to public safety.

    The body is now in the custody of the Summit County Coroner’s Office.

    “Our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this loss of life,” Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimmons said on social media.
