DENVER (KDVR) — After weeks of no news , former President Donald Trump has announced the location and date of his visit to Aurora.

Trump will visit the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center on Friday, Oct. 11 , with the event scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Doors will open at 10 a.m. Ticket registrations are limited to two per mobile number.

Trump said during a Sept. 18 rally in Uniondale, New York, that he would be visiting Aurora and Springfield, Ohio, in the next two weeks. That promise was unfulfilled, but the former president now appears to have plans to make it to the city.

“I’m going to go there in the next two weeks. I’m going to Springfield and I’m going to Aurora,” Trump told rally-goers on Sept. 18. “You may never see me again, but that’s OK. Got to do what I got to do.”

On Monday, the city of Aurora confirmed it was aware of the rally in a statement.

“We are aware that former President Trump plans to visit Aurora on Friday. The city, including the Aurora Police Department, will work with its partner agencies as requested.”

The Republican presidential candidate has been vocal about ongoing immigration issues in Aurora and Springfield, but local officials have repeatedly countered Trump’s message, saying it is misinformation. Last week, Trump said that if he wins the presidency again, he would order the l argest deportation in U.S. history, starting in Aurora .

The former president did not say how those deportations might work or how law enforcement would identify people who are in the U.S. illegally. He also continued to make unfounded claims that violent migrant gangs are taking over U.S. cities, just as he did in the Sept. 9 debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.

“We’re going to take care of Ohio and we’re going to take care of Colorado and we’re going to take care of every single state in the union,” Trump told the Uniondale crowd in September. “They’re all under seizure.”

Trump made baseless claims that immigrants were eating families’ dogs and cats in Springfield. He’s also spread disinformation and misinformation about migrants in Colorado.

Aurora leaders repeatedly address migrant concerns

More than 40,000 migrants have arrived in the Denver metro area in the last couple of years. In Denver and Aurora, crime rates — including murder and violent crimes — have decreased in that time . Local officials have addressed a viral video showing members of the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua , as confirmed by Department of Homeland Security sources to NewsNation.

Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman, a Republican and former congressman, said this is an isolated issue that police are addressing.

The video shows men with long guns and handguns entering an apartment unit, as well as other clips showing individuals trying to break the doors of that unit open. All six individuals in the video have now been identified by the Aurora Police Department, which also shared an arrest affidavit with details about the incident.

The Aurora Police Department said in a release that none of the six suspects have been connected to any criminal organization, including the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which has a confirmed presence in Aurora. The investigation has been dubbed “Operation Safe Haven” by the Aurora police.

“However, that piece of the investigation is ongoing,” the police said in its Wednesday release. “Operation Safe Haven investigators are actively searching for the wanted suspects with the assistance of local, state and federal law enforcement partners.”

Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain told FOX31 in a one-on-one interview in September that he does not believe the apartment buildings were “taken over” by the gangs.

“I’m going to be very blunt; I think that’s a false narrative. There was a lot of issues with the property management company on this. There was a lot of outreach at a city level, not at a police level but at a city level through the city manager’s office and the mayor’s office to try to get some systems in place where these people would actually become property managers,” Chamberlain said.

Dozens of residents have spoken up about the allegations of gang members in the apartment complexes, even holding a press conference on Sept. 4 to try and “set the record straight,” and alleging that the media attention on the violent activity has led to danger against migrant families.

Gov. Jared Polis told FOX31 on Colorado Point of View on Oct. 5 that he would welcome a chance to show the former president that Aurora is a safe place. He sent a statement to FOX31 on Monday night.

“Coloradans stand united in our love of our state, and we are proud to be a beacon for personal freedoms, a vibrant economy, and world class outdoor recreational opportunities. I am sure when he comes to Aurora, he’ll find an incredible city with two straight years of rapidly declining crime that is filled with hard-working people from many diverse backgrounds and small businesses that are driving Colorado’s economy forward. As Coloradans, we are proud of Aurora, proud of Colorado, and proud of the United States of America,” said Gov. Jared Polis.
