What are the odds the Colorado Avalanche win the Stanley Cup?

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Avalanche open the season against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday. It’s been less than a week since the last time the Avalanche reigned victorious over the Golden Knights, but what are the odds they can win again?

Then beyond that, what are the odds that the Avs will bring the Stanley Cup back to Colorado?

Fans of both teams have high expectations as both have brought home the Stanley Cup within the last three seasons — the Golden Knights in 2023 and the Avalanche in 2022 .

Last year, both the Avs and the Golden Knights made it to the playoffs but not the championships. The Florida Panthers took the trophy for 2024.

The teams faced off twice during preseason games, each with one win. According to DraftKings Sportsbook , the odds for Wednesday’s game are tight, slightly in favor of the Golden Knights at -122 compared to +102 for the Avs.

The Avalanche are starting the season missing three forwards : captain Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin and Artturi Lehkonen. Lehkonen is expected to return from shoulder surgery in November, it’s unknown when Landeskog will return from knee cartilage replacement surgery or when Nichushkin will return from suspension.

As for the rest of the season, DraftKings has the Avs tied for the fourth-best odds of winning the NHL championship.

The Edmonton Oilers are the favorite with +800, according to DraftKings Sportsbook , followed by the Florida Panthers at +1000, the Dallas Stars at +1100 and the New Jersey Devils at +1200. The odds for the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes are tied at +1300.

If the Avs can pull off another championship victory, it will be the fourth time they have won the Stanley Cup in the franchise’s history.
