DENVER (KDVR) — On NFL gamedays fans look forward to visiting their favorite venues that feel like a second home, eating fresh-made stadium food and watching some high-stakes football.

According to local fans and fans around the league, the Denver Broncos’ Empower Field at Mile High checks all the boxes for being one of the best venues around the country to enjoy these festivities.

In USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards Empower Field was rated the third-best NFL stadium overall and the fifth-best in the NFL for stadium food. The nominations were curated by a panel of experts and USA Today 10Best editors and then presented to the public to vote on.

One group of people who didn’t need to know this information to solidify the status of the stadium is the Broncos faithful who have sold out every home game since 1970. This is the longest sellout streak in the NFL for a single city according to a press release from Empower Field at Mile High.

That achievement becomes even more impressive considering the stadium’s capacity is 76,125.

To pack that many fans into the stands, Empower Field had to span over 1.8 million square feet. This makes it the fifth-largest stadium in the NFL per square foot.

While size and capacity are important, the thing that makes a stadium truly special is the ambiance. Over the last two seasons, Empower Field said it has spent $100 million on upgrades and renovations. Improvements have been made to video boards, hospitality areas, technology, concessions, elevators and the Broncos Team Store.

Empower Field’s food and beverage provider, Aramark Sports + Entertainment, made some improvements itself by introducing 12 restaurants and 10 specialty items to the stadium and providing nine autonomous checkout markets including mobile ordering and cashless payments. All attributes that contributed to the stadium’s fifth-best food ranking in the NFL.

Part of the environment that had the stadium voted the third best in the NFL includes the Stadium Art Series presented by ARTA Tequila which allowed local artists the opportunity to create murals and art pieces across the stadium. Local art paired with local traditions like “Rocky Mountain Thunder,” Miles the Mascot, Thunder the live mascot and performances from the Thunderstorm skydiving team ground Broncos games in Colorado spirit and culture.
