DENVER ( KDVR ) — Boulder police responded to an unexpected trespasser after a resident in the area reported a large snake in their home.

On Thursday, the Boulder Police Department released body camera footage from one of its officers responding to the unusual call. On scene, the video shows the officers finding the snake on the hardwood floor, scrunching up and down trying to escape capture.

The snake was pictured in a few more areas around the house before officers were able to trap the snake with a bucket, then use the stairs to put a cardboard box under the bucket. The officers were then able to take the snake outside, where they said they released it into its natural habitat.

While the department said it wasn’t a usual call for police, wildlife and law enforcement encounters aren’t unheard of in Colorado.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported stumbling upon a (roughly) 13-year-old rattlesnake on the road while working on containing the Quarry Fire. However, they’ve also found rattlesnakes in other odd locations, like in a car while a Wheat Ridge officer searched the vehicle during a drug bust .

    And it’s not just snakes.

Over the summer, authorities responded to many moose and bear calls, including one bear that wandered into the Colorado Renaissance Festival and had to be relocated, as well as a 600-pound moose that Jefferson County deputies had to help move.
