    Investigators seek help identifying man found dead by hiker in Summit County

    DENVER (KDVR) — Investigators need help identifying a man who was found dead by a hiker near Officer’s Gulch last week.

    The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded after a hiker reported finding a decomposed male body in the area of Officer’s Gulch West Climbing area.

    The sheriff’s office said it believes the man may have been in the area for anywhere from two weeks to two months.

    He is estimated to be in his 40s or 50s and is described by the sheriff’s office as about five feet two inches tall, weighing 120 to 130 pounds.

    The man may be of South or Central American descent and has black and gray hair with a receding hairline. The sheriff’s office said he had two silver/metallic-colored upper teeth.

    Investigators are asking the public for help identifying him. Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Detective Matt Sanders at 970-423-8919 or dispatch at 970-668-8600.
