DENVER (KDVR) — The Major League Baseball playoffs are in full swing and while four teams remain, 26 of the other MLB teams have hit the offseason. Winning the World Series is the ultimate goal for every team, but other awards are distributed for success in the regular season. One award that holds a lot of merit, is the Rawlings Gold Glove.

Created in 1957 by glove manufacturer Rawlings, the Gold Glove is given to the best defensive player in each position. The award is given to players in both the National League and the American League.

    The positions include:

    • Catcher
    • First base, second base and third base
    • Shortstop
    • Left, center and right field
    • Utility spot

The utility spot is given to a player who excelled in multiple defensive positions throughout the season.

    Colorado Rockies players named finalists

Three players are nominated as finalists for each position in both leagues. In the National League, three Rockies players have been nominated for the 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove in their respective positions.
