COLORADO SPRINGS (KXRM) — The Colorado Springs Police Department said a suspect has been arrested after police received reports of death threats allegedly made against a candidate for the state senate.

According to CSPD, police said the alleged threats were made against current District 3 El Paso County Commissioner Stan VanderWerf, a candidate for Colorado Senate District 12.

CSPD said its investigation developed probable cause to arrest the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Casey Jones on Friday, Oct. 11. He now faces harassment and menacing charges.
