    Aurora police looking for suspect involved in multiple armed robberies

    DENVER ( KDVR ) — The Aurora Police Department is looking for a suspect involved in several armed robberies targeting Hispanic individuals.

    Police said these incidents started in August, including a robbery where the suspect fired shots. During the most recent incident on Wednesday, police said a local community college was placed on secure status .

    The suspect is said to have been targeting Hispanic individuals, particularly Spanish-speaking members of the community, according to police.

    Police posted camera footage of the suspect on Oct. 9 around 6:30 a.m. Security footage showed the suspect walk by a few doors in what appears to be a complex, before walking out of the frame.

    “We understand that the quality video may not be great, and that it alone might not help us identify the suspect. However, we want to bring awareness to these incidents and provide reassurance that we are actively investigating,” the Aurora Police Department posted on X.

    Police say the suspect is described as:

    • Black man
    • Mid-20s
    • Approximately 5’8” to 5’10”
    • Slim build
    • Dark complexion
    • Often seen wearing a black face mask or ski mask, a black hoodie and dark clothing
    • Targets victims late at night or in the early morning hours

    Police: Take safety precautions

    While police are investigating, they are asking the public to take safety precautions such as:

    • Being aware of your surroundings.
    • Keep an eye out for any unusual behavior or suspicious activity.
    • Travel in groups when possible, especially in the late evening or early morning hours.
    • Stick to well-lit areas and avoid taking shortcuts through dark or isolated areas.
    • Trust your instincts – If something feels off, seek help or find a safe space immediately.
    • If you are approached by someone demanding valuables, do not resist and report the incident as soon as possible.

    The department said people shouldn’t hesitate to reach out if they see anything suspicious or have information that can help with the investigation.
