DENVER (KDVR) — A juvenile was arrested on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in connection to a double shooting that happened over the weekend at Rotella Park.

Saturday around 11:18 p.m., deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to Rotella Park, located at 1824 Coronado Parkway in the unincorporated community of Welby, on report of a shooting.

Upon arrival at the scene, the sheriff’s office said deputies found a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to the neck and attempted life-saving measures. He was later pronounced dead and identified by the Adams County Coroner as 15-year-old Alonzo Elgueta Fuentes.

Later, deputies found another juvenile with a gunshot wound to the leg, and they were treated by medical personnel and released.

“Detectives began interviewing involved juveniles and learned that the incident started as a physical disturbance. The investigation continued through the following days with lengthy interviews, searches, and examination of evidence,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
