DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado State University in Fort Collins was placed under a second active shelter-in-place order at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday, which was lifted at about 9:20 p.m.

The university said there was police activity on campus after an aggravated assault with a knife was reported near Laurel Hall on the Oval at CSU.

1 found dead in Alpine Hall after police activity reported

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s wearing a black shirt and black backpack and traveling on foot. He may still be on campus, police said initially, but said as of 9:20 p.m., the CSU police and Fort Collins police had thoroughly searched the area and believed the suspect fled campus.

The agency initially reported there was an ongoing threat to campus and campus members should shelter in place. The agency did not say if there were any injuries from the assault.

Anyone who has information about the situation at Laurel Hall shortly before 8 p.m. is asked to call the CSU Police Department’s non-emergency number at 970-491-6425.

This situation is under investigation separately from the death at Alpine Hall earlier Wednesday.
