DENVER KDVR) — An altercation between a group of four to five youths involving a gun occurred at a Circle K in Boulder on Thursday, the city reported.

After noon on Thursday, four to five youths got into an altercation at the Circle K near 14th Street and Canyon Boulevard which resulted in a juvenile being taken into custody, Boulder police said.

Boulder High School students were near the Circle K and surrounding food trucks during lunchtime when the fight broke out. The fight escalated when someone involved pulled out a gun.

Someone getting gas saw the gun and called 911. Police and Boulder Valley School District security guards quickly arrived at the scene.

It was reported that the person who brandished the gun hit another person in the head while holding the gun in his hand. At some point during the fight and the arrival of the police, the gun disappeared from the area.

Police used K-9 units to search for the gun in the area but were unable to locate it. Police are considering somebody running away with it as a possibility.

Without the gun in their possession, police have been unable to determine if it was real or a replica, and video footage in the area suggests it can be either.
