    Denver weather: Cooler and breezy with afternoon showers

    DENVER ( KDVR ) — Mainly cloudy skies will finish the week with a brisk wind, chilly highs and afternoon showers in the Denver weather forecast.

    Weather today: Afternoon showers

    Denver will see mainly cloudy skies on Friday, as highs will cool to the upper 40s. Winds will be brisk out of the north at 10-20 mph, making it feel even cooler.

    The Front Range and Eastern Plains could see rain showers by Friday afternoon and evening. The high country has better chances for rain and snow throughout the day.

    The San Juan Mountains are under a winter storm warning until noon on Sunday, and they could see 1-2 feet of snow, with localized areas getting up to 3 feet.

    The rain and snow across the state continue Friday night with cloudy skies. Winds will gradually slow as temperatures dip to the 40-degree mark.

    Saturday looks mainly cloudy for Denver with minimal rain and snow showers in the mountains. The southern mountains could see light showers throughout the day as Denver will be chilly in the middle 50s.

    Sunday could see a quick rain or snow shower in the afternoon for the high country with cloudy skies across the Front Range, Highs on Sunday are in the upper 60s, and there could even be some sunshine in the afternoon.

    By early Monday morning, snowfall totals from the entire weekend won’t be large, and will only be 1-3 inches along Interstate 70, but higher totals are expected in the San Juan Mountains with the warning.

    Pinpoint Weather 7-day forecast for Denver on Oct. 18

    Monday starts the next week with a return to mainly sunny skies and mild highs in the low 70s. Tuesday is a little warmer with highs in the middle 70s and sunny skies.

    Wednesday keeps the mainly sunny skies with above-average highs in the lower 70s. Denver is back to the mid-70s on Thursday afternoon with sunny skies.
