DENVER (KDVR) — No victims were found in a car after witnesses reported watching people push the vehicle into a pond in Aurora on Friday.

Aurora Fire Rescue told FOX31 that first responders went to a call reporting a car sinking into West Toll Gate Creek near South Salida Way and East Vassar Place.

Aurora Fire Rescue said in a post on social media that the reports did not indicate whether or not there was a person who may have drowned as a result.

When crews arrived on the scene, witnesses told the agency that they saw people “pushing the vehicle into the lake and driving away in another car.”

The vehicle, a black four-door Volkswagen SUV, was submerged in the water up to the roof.

Divers from the fire department’s heavy rescue and South Metro Fire Rescue searched the car and the lake for any victims and no one was found.

“AFR would like to remind our community about safety tips to prevent drownings: Learn to swim. Use a buddy system. Always supervise children. Avoid alcohol use. Wear a life jacket. Use medications as prescribed and follow all precautions noted,” Aurora Fire Rescue wrote.

The Aurora Police Department confirmed that the vehicle was stolen. An investigation is underway.

My neighbors keep switching plates from one vehicle to another . I reported it to Aurora police . The police called back and said there is nothing they can do about it unless they get pulled over . But the ran plates and the plates did not come back to either vehicle they have been driving the car with the plates on . This is just crazy and our property manager will not do anything either sad .
