Pedestrian hit, killed while crossing C-470 near I-70

DENVER (KDVR) — One person was hit and killed while crossing Colorado Highway 470 in Jefferson County on Saturday.

Colorado State Patrol said in a press release that the crash happened around 6:36 a.m. on C-470 near milepost 1 at Interstate 70.

“Troopers on scene determined a pedestrian was crossing the highway when she were struck by a Chevrolet Suburban,” CSP said.

The pedestrian was a 52-year-old woman from Arizona and CSP said she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity will be released by the county coroner’s office.

The initial report indicated that the crash may have been a hit and run, but CSP said the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement.

An investigation is ongoing and CSP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information to contact dispatch at 303-239-4501 referencing case number 1A242950.
