Powell Gardens brings back “Dark Forest” exhibit this fall

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City’s botanical garden, Powell Gardens, announced on Wednesday that it is bringing back its eccentric, festive, artistic, whimsical and mysterious outdoor event, “Dark Forest,” for the fourth year in a row.
From late October to early November, visitors can walk through the one-mile trail filled with “spellbinding performances,” ethereal music and multiple unique art installations.
“This event is a great example of our commitment to creating innovative and memorable experiences that celebrate the natural beauty of the Midwest,” said Powell Gardens’ Chief Executive Officer Cody Jolliff. “We can’t wait to welcome visitors back to our woods to experience the magic, mystery, and enchantment that Dark Forest offers.”

This year, the event will introduce a new exclusive add-on, Fire Feasts. Fire Feasts are culinary experiences where attendees can enjoy wood-fired grilled food, spiced rice, grilled corn and dessert while watching pop-up fire performances.
Each meal comes with a drink and the option to get a specialty fire-themed cocktail or mocktail. As well as this, the meals are gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian-friendly. However, tickets are required to be purchased in advance.
Limited VIP tickets are available and include VIP parking, two drinks, a souvenir shirt, and the option to skip the line and visit a VIP bar and seating area.
Dark Forest is designed for a PG-13 audience and will only run from Oct. 18-19, Oct. 24-26, and Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Powell Gardens. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the trail experience open from 7-11 p.m.
Tickets will be available at www.powellgardens.org/dark-forest on Thursday at noon. E-mail subscribers and Powell Gardens members will receive early access to ticket sales.
