KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jackson County Prosecutor, Jean Peters Baker, announced today that two men have been charged in connection to several armed robberies of businesses across Kansas City.

The prosecutor’s office says Richard Canton of Kansas City faces three counts of first-degree robbery and three counts of armed criminal action. These charges stem from robberies of local businesses on Aug. 13, 15 and 16.

Jackson Co. prosecutor also says Dimitri Decarlo McGill faces a first-degree robbery charge and a charge of armed criminal action.

According to court records, KCPD responded to a robbery of a chain drug store on Aug.16. A clerk at the drug store claimed that a man, later identified as McGill, pointed a handgun at her and demanded the money from the register.

The clerk also said that she saw a man, later identified as Canton, walk around the store, then out towards the direction McGill left. Detectives were able to identify Canton from the clothing he was wearing while caught on surveillance.

Additionally, law enforcement searched an associate’s residence and found evidence that linked the suspects to other robberies. Those incidents are currently being investigated.

Prosecutors requested a $200,000 cash-only bond for Canton and a $100,000 bond for McGill.
