KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals pulled off the sweep in the final game of their series against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

After a rain delay in the bottom of the second inning, Vinnie Pasquantino hit an RBI single to put KC on the board first. Pasquantino would end the game with three RBIs.

In the fifth, the Reds got yet another taste of Dairon Blanco’s bright yellow Players’ Weekend crayon bat. Blanco, who hit two homers in yesterday’s game , one being a third-inning grand slam, hit another homer on Sunday.

RHP Brady Singer pitched a stellar six innings, striking out six and only walking one batter. The only Royals pitcher that allowed a run was Sam Long, who pitched a part of the seventh inning before Lucas Erceg came into the game and led the Royals out of a seventh-inning jam.

Royals starting pitchers allowed only one run the entire series, and just two runs in the last four games. KC outscored Cincinnati 28-3 in the series.

Bobby Witt Jr. reached yet another milestone in his career, becoming the second-youngest Royal to reach 500 career hits.

He sits behind only the Royals legend George Brett. Witt nearly homered in the top of the seventh, but it was robbed by Reds CF TJ Friedl.

The Royals are now 6-4 in their last ten games.

The team sits in the last AL Wild Card spot. They face a tough schedule after their next series against the Angels as they’ll play multiple playoff contenders in the upcoming weeks.
