    Things to do this weekend in Kansas City Aug. 23-25

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Wherever you are in the Kansas City metro, there’s a festival or sporting event to check out this weekend.

    Here are 10 events going on this weekend — Aug. 23 through Aug. 25 — that are worth checking out.

    Parkville Days Festival

    Parkville Days is happening this weekend in downtown Parkville. Head to English Landing Park Friday night for all kinds of family-friendly fun.

    From music, to arts and crafts, to food and carnival rides. A carnival wristband is 25 dollars cash only. But admission to the festival is free. That’s from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

    HBCU and Greek Night at Legends Field

    The third annual HBCU & Greek Night is back for 2024. The American Association Kansas City Monarchs are hosting the theme night on Friday in partnership with the Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce and Carter Broadcasting Group.

    The night will support the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and its “Pitch for the Future” campaign to build the nation’s only Negro Leagues campus. 20% of ticket sales will benefit the NLBM.

    KidFEST at Science City

    KidFEST is back at Kansas City’s Science City with a day focusing on the various careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). This event is dedicated to early learners and their families to experience educator-led activities, face paintings, exploration of the DinoLab, and more.

    Kansas City Retro convention

    “Kansas City Retro” is this weekend in Overland Park. Head to the OP convention center on Saturday and Sunday to check out vintage video games, art, collectibles and more.

    Tickets are $30 on Saturday and $25 on Sunday. Learn more at kansascityretro.com.

    Creed Humphrey: Ultimate Tailgate Championship

    Head over to Boulevard Brewery on Sunday for the “Tailgate Championship” with Chiefs offensive lineman, Creed Humphrey!

    Go to the Tours and Rec Center for game day eats, cold beer and a photo op with Humphrey. $1 for every pour will go to the KC Pet Project.

    Dierks Bentley at T-Mobile Center

    Multi-platinum country artist Dierks Bentley is in town this weekend. The “Gravel and Gold Tour” hits the T-Mobile Center Friday.

    Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets start at just $20.

    New game lounge and bar coming to Kansas City Crossroads district

    Barry Manilow at T-Mobile Center

    Barry Manilow is heading to Kansas City! He’ll perform at the T-Mobile Center on Sunday at 7 p.m.

    Tickets are still available. The cheapest we found are on Ticketmaster — for 15 bucks!

    Royals vs Phillies at the K

    The boys in blue are up against a tough competitor this weekend. They’ll face the Philadelphia Phillies. They’re number one in the National League East and second in the National League behind the Dodgers.

    The games start at 7:10 p.m. Friday, 6:10 p.m. on Saturday and 1:10 p.m. on Sunday at Kauffman Stadium.

    Sporting KC vs Orlando City SC

    Sporting KC is playing in KCK this weekend. They’ll take on Orlando City SC, on Saturday night at Children’s Mercy Park.

    The game starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $20.

    Tiblow Days

    There’s a carnival in Bonner Springs this weekend! The city’s annual heritage festival runs through the weekend.

    “Tiblow Days” is named after the original name for Bonner Springs, and “Henry Tiblow.” He was a Delaware native American who operated a ferry across the Kansas River.

    The carnival is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, and vendors will be set up along Oak, Second, and Third streets. The Tiblow Days Parade is happening Saturday morning.
