    Things to do in Kansas City Labor Day weekend

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Looking for something to do in Kansas City this weekend? We’ve got you covered!

    Here are 11 events going on this weekend — Aug. 30 through Sept. 2 — that are worth checking out.

    Irish Fest

    The annual festival brings food, music and performances from across the Celtic world to downtown Kansas City. Irish Fest kicks off Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, at Crown Center. Click here for the full schedule.

    Tickets for the festival are still available and can be purchased on the Irish Fest website . Friday’s tickets are $25 for adults and $8 for kids. Single-day tickets are $30 for adults and $8 for kids.

    SantaCaliGon Days Festival

    The vibrant and time-honored tradition of the SantaCaliGon Days Festival is set to mark its 52nd year, commemorating the history of the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon Trails.

    At this year’s festival, there will be entertainment, delectable cuisine from numerous food vendors, handcrafted arts and crafts, a carnival, and live performances across two stages.

    The Budweiser Clydesdales will be at the festival on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.

    KC Chalk and Walk Festival

    The Kansas City Chalk and Walk Festival is happening this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The festival will showcase hundreds of artists of all skill levels. On Saturday, artists will start their projects and on Sunday they will be finished.

    This is a free event at the Historic City Market. The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

    Royals vs. Guardians

    The Kansas City Royals will meet the Cleveland Guardians again but this time at Kaufman Stadium. The Royals will be back at The K on Labor Day. The game starts at 3:10 p.m.

    Tickets start at $10. There will be a Charlie Hustle T-shirt giveaway for the first 5,000 fans at the ballpark.

    Marco Antonio Solís at T-Mobile Center

    Marco Antonio Solís is bringing his acclaimed “Eternamente Agradecido World Tour” to the Kansas City T-Mobile Center. He will be performing Saturday at 8 p.m.

    Rob Riggle to co-host tailgate of Kansas City Chiefs home opener

    Glass Animals at Azura Amphitheater

    The Grammy-nominated British band, Glass Animals will take the stage at Azura Amphitheater on Saturday with special guests including Eyedress and Blondshell.

    The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. You can find tickets for as low as $40.

    De Soto Days

    Join the fun in Downtown De Soto over the holiday weekend! De Soto Days is the largest ongoing event in the De Soto community. The festival has a carnival, car show, a 5k race, a parade and more.

    The events start at 6 p.m. Thursday and go until Sunday morning.

    Kansas City Renaissance Festival

    The Kansas City Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs opens on the weekend of the holiday. Experience medieval history at the yearly event, which includes daily jousting, a market, fair cuisine, kid-friendly events, and more inventive entertainment.

    The festival starts Saturday at 10 a.m.

    Sundance Film Festival

    The Screenland Armour Theater is hosting the 2024 Sundance Film Fest tour this weekend. The theater said you can watch seven short films — including three festival award-winning titles.

    Showtimes are 10:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Saturday; 4:45 p.m. on Sunday and 2:30 p.m. on Labor Day. Tickets are $8.

    Irish Fest returns to Kansas City for Labor Day weekend

    Grinter Farms Sunflowers

    Grinter Farms near Lawrence invites you to their sunflower fields this weekend. They’re expecting their big sunflower to bloom over the Labor Day holiday.

    They posted on social media that they haven’t quite bloomed yet — but they’re “Oh so close.” Check the Grinter Farms Facebook page for updates on when the bloom happens.

    Ward Parkway Concert Series

    Ward Parkway Center is hosting its summer concert series once again this weekend! You’re invited to the Ward Parkway restaurant pavilion from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday for some free live entertainment.

    Friday’s performer is Phil Wang, with solo guitar and harmonica. Saturday’s performer is Sunny Valentine on guitar.
